Anvil - Light Gage Steel Railroad Track (283):

This railroad track anvil is long and skinny.  It is useful and handy as is ... and ... with a little bother, could be cut up into smaller anvils for light duty work.

For general interest, railroad tracks and car wheels are made from high carbon steel.  This is to minimize the rubber-like elastic indentation of the track top surface, as a carriage wheel rolls over it ... thus reducing the load pull requirement on the train engine.

Anvil - Unusual - Bench Mounted (319):

This is an unusual and useful bench anvil or work support tool.  It may have been used by cobblers ... but ... can be helpful to anyone.

Anvil - 33 lb Cast Iron (A2)

This anvil-vice combo was once popular with home and farm do-it-yourselfers.  I read somewhere (so it must be true) that these anvil-vices were mounted in train cabooses for handling hook, latch and fastener problems while trains were under way.  Is this really true?  Beats me!

Antique Railroad Train Caboose Anvil-Vice (A10)

This anvil-vice combo was once popular with home and farm do-it-yourselfers.  I read somewhere (so it must be true) that these anvil-vices were bench-mounted in railroad train cabooses for handling hook, door latch and fastener problems while trains were under way.  Is this really true?  Beats me!

In any case, this piece is in good condition and surely is a genuine antique.
